On
the penultimate day of the official closure of Margam Depot,
08752 underwent a power unit change using the engine block
from scrap 09003 and a reconditioned generator from Ferrybridge.
The power unit change was carried out using Margam Depot's
75 Ton Cowans Sheldon Crane manned by a supervisor, crane
driver and four slingers. The power unit from 09003 was
removed some weeks earlier and its defective generator was
changed for the recoditioned one prior to 08752 arriving at Margam Depot.
